Future Foundations Work Program Description

Work Program Description

What is the program and who does it serve?
The program involves the Future Foundations endowment, and the opportunity to work for tuition assistance.  A family may work at Victory Field earning both tuition assistance for the family’s tuition account, as well as supporting the Future Foundations endowment.  The Future Foundations endowment is a permanent fund which earns interest over time, with the distribution or proceeds from the fund to support an institution.  The distribution or proceeds from this endowment will serve Roncalli students in need of financial assistance.  It is the long term goal of the endowment, that all need based financial assistance will be funded solely through the proceeds of the endowment.  This program is one of the sources that will fund the endowment.  The program also serves as an opportunity to work for tuition assistance to reduce a family’s tuition balance to Roncalli High School.

How does this program work in regards to my tuition assistance for my family’s tuition account and the Future Foundations endowment?
Upon working an event, which is typically working a concession stand at an Indians game, the commission which is earned for that event is split amongst the individuals working the event.  For each person in each event, 80% of the commission earned will go toward your family’s tuition account (tax free) as tuition assistance, and 20% will be a contribution to the Future Foundations endowment.  Commission amounts can vary greatly as last season, some games brought large commissions and other games were poor commissions due to weather.  Last year we averaged $84 per event per person for roughly a six hour work day.  This was an outstanding season for us in terms of commissions as previous years have averaged around $55 - $60 per event per person.

What if I just want to work to help contribute to the endowment?
We have several families that find this is a great way to contribute to Roncalli High School.  Many families worked last year at Victory Field and Lucas Oil Stadium simply as a contribution to Roncalli.  During the last season of events at Lucas Oil Stadium and Victory Field over $24,000 was raised by Roncalli families specifically for the Future Foundations endowment.  If you would like your contribution to go specifically to the endowment, please note that request on the Victory Field Interest Form.

What is involved in a work day?
Activities include serving food and drink, and are similar to those activities you find working at your parish festival or fish fry.  We will try to combine families that are new to the program with families that have worked previously in the program for each event.  The start time for each event varies, but the length of a work day is roughly six hours.  The attire is a Roncalli uniform red or white golf/polo style shirt, a pair of black pants or modest length shorts or capris, and visor provided by Roncalli.  A bus takes care of transportation to and from the back parking lot of Roncalli for each event.

Who can work?
The program is for adults only for two reasons.  First, many students are incapable, or unwilling, to work at the level required for the program.  Second, there is alcohol served in each of the concession stands in which we work.  For your family, either spouse (or both spouses) can work; or someone can work who is 21 years or older, in which you designate to work for your family’s tuition account.  An alcohol permit and T.I.P.S. training card is required to work an event at Victory Field.  We will have training dates for both the permit and training card. There is no charge for either the alcohol permit or the T.I.P.S. training card if you attend one of these training dates.

How and when do I sign up to work?
If interested, please contact Dave Gervasio at  or call the Roncalli Business Office at 787-8277.

Why are we having the Future Foundations Victory Field program?
There are several reasons for the program.  The critical reason behind the program is a recognition that the cost of educating students at the secondary level is escalating at a rate that the current school revenue sources cannot maintain without increasing tuition at a level that will eventually price the school out of the reach of too many families.  Raising money for an endowment could give the school an alternative revenue source so the tuition in the future can be at a level that is affordable.

The program also provides families an opportunity to work toward reducing the tuition amount due to Roncalli while also giving back to the school, and specifically the financial assistance program assisting students who need financial assistance in the future.  It also gives anyone who is interested in building the endowment program for the future of the school a unique avenue to donate.
