Log in Instructions to Naviance

Access Naviance by following these steps

  1. Click on ‘Naviance’ link at the top of this website
  2. On the sign in screen, user name is the student Roncalli 6 digit ID.  Password is the 8 character password students use to log into computers at school.
  3. See the Home Page with a What’s New greeting and tabs to access various sections of the program.

  • Search for a wide variety of scholarships
  • Assess career interests with a tested online tool
  • Find colleges and majors that match your qualifications
  • Track your progress, your plans and your results

Milestones for Students

All Students Throughout Each Year

  • Take challenging courses.  Study!  Ask for help.  Grades from each year impact your college and future planning opportunities!
  • Read the weekly email from Guidance for news on scholarships, enrichment opportunities, future planning, career opportunities and study tips.
  • Update your resume in Naviance.  Track activities, service, leadership, employment and awards under the ‘about me’ tab.
  • Volunteer for an organization related to a career interest area.
  • Get involved!  Volunteer with a Roncalli group.  Be an active Club member.  Join a team or serve as a team manager.

Freshman Year

  • Develop strong study habits.  Freshman grades count toward your college applications.  First semester grades determine which classes you may select for your sophomore year.
  • August:  Register for Naviance. 
  • August:  Complete My Personality survey (Naviance)
  • October:  EXPLORE (pre- ACT exam) Find your strengths.  Build your skills.
  • January:  Register for challenging classes for your sophomore year.  Be sure you meet the prerequisites.  Meet with your counselor if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Continue with strong study habits.  Second semester grades impact the classes you are allowed to take your sophomore year and beyond.

Sophomore Year

  • September:  Take the Interest Inventory in Naviance.  Begin identifying possible careers.
  • September through November:  Sign up for ONE college rep visit at RHS on Naviance.  Maximum: 1.
  • September:  PLAN exam (practice for the ACT; determine your strengths)
  • October:  PSAT exam (practice for the SAT; determine your strengths)
  • January:  Establish Collegeboard login:  user name = first name and 5 digit ID; password = last name and 3 digit pin (same as for Naviance)
  • January – June:  Use My College Quick Start to review PSAT results and strengthen skills
  • Attend at least one College Open House at a college campus (weekends, vacation days or summer)
  • Attend a College Fair
  • Attend the NCAA workshop at RHS, if interested in participating in college athletics
  • Job shadow one day during the summer

Junior Year

  • September through November:  Sign up for college rep visits on Naviance.
  • October:  PSAT exam (practice for the SAT, also determines National Merit qualifiers)
  • Use My College Quick Start to review PSAT results and strengthen skills.
  • Attend RHS NCAA workshop, if interested in participating in college athletics
  • November:  Attend Roncalli’s career fair
  • January – May:  Prepare for ACT and SAT using Naviance, ZAPS, Etc.
  • January – March:  Register for and take first ACT and SAT
  • March – June:  Take second ACT and/ or SAT (or the higher of the two)
  • Register for Docufide.  Email address is used as user name.  Write your password here:  ___________ or in a safe place!
    Utilize your 2 College visit or Job shadow days wisely.
  • Visit colleges before your senior year so you can expand or narrow your list, as needed.

Senior Year

  • Use Naviance to
    • Enter and track college applications
    • Find, enter and track scholarship applications
    • Notify your counselor of your final college decision
  • August:  Visit with your counselor to discuss colleges, options and decision making.
  • August:  Begin college applications.
  • September through November:  Sign up for college rep visits on Naviance.
  • September through December:  Retake ACT / SAT, if necessary.
  • October 1:  Complete college applications.
  • November:  Attend Roncalli’s career fair
  • Before January:  Sign up for FAFSA
  • January to February:  File FAFSA (school deadlines vary)
  • Use Docufide to request your transcripts for colleges where you have applied.  (You registered as a Junior.  Your email address will help you retrieve your password if you have misplaced it.)
  • Update your resume:  Teachers and administrators use this information to write letters of recommendation.
  • Utilize your 2 College visit or Job shadow days wisely.
  • April: Evaluate financial aid packages from colleges
  • May 1:  Commit to one school.  Notify other colleges that you have decided against.
